GOURSHA
This project is an event collateral design for an Ethiopian food event in Strasbourg, France. The event invites people to discover Ethiopian culture through food: a medium that reflects the country’s values, traditions, and rich cultural identity. Organized in collaboration with Abyssinia, an Ethiopian restaurant in Strasbourg, the event celebrates connection, discovery, and cultural exchange.

I explored and researched a wide range of visual elements inspired by Ethiopian visual culture, as well as by the meals themselves and the act of sharing and eating. From traditional patterns and colorful plates to the Ethiopian alphabet, my research was rooted in both cultural and sensory inspiration.

The menu played a key visual role, designed as an interactive element that encourages conversation among visitors. Everyone is seated together around a shared table, even with strangers to experience a collective meal. This reflects a familiar ritual in Ethiopia: the act of sharing food.

Designed as a zine, the menu opens from both sides one revealing the food selection, the other inviting visitors to interact. It includes cultural facts, the Ethiopian alphabet, and space to try writing names or simple expressions, turning the dining moment into a fun and engaging cultural exchange.
The menu unfolds into a poster, so the experience continues even after the event. It becomes a keepsake for visitors something they can take home, carrying with them a small piece of the culture and design.

Alongside the menu, visitors receive a sticker card featuring all the dishes. They can mix and match stickers to create their own platter a fun, hands-on way to explore the flavors of Ethiopian cuisine.

Guests are invited to glue their chosen meal stickers onto a cardboard platter, creating their own personalized selection. These platters are then sent to the kitchen, where the chefs bring each visitor’s creation to life with a freshly prepared assortment of Ethiopian dishes.

This interactive process invites visitors to collaborate, connect, and enjoy a meal they’ve composed together: Turning dining into a shared creative experience.
